Are you looking for creative- and effective ways- to calm and soothe your child? Regulation of feelings, behavior, and sensory input can be challenging for many children, and especially for child who experienced attachment loss and/or difficult beginnings.

After 25 years of experience in my professional office, and with years of input learned from my living room couch, I drafted this list of sensory triggers and soothers. Family life can change dramatically when we think about our children as sensory beings and attempt to connect with them, and soothe them, through sensory pathways. I recommend that families sit down together and go through the list for each family member.

You might even be surprised by what you learn about your own sensory needs as a parent. After all, we know family regulation starts with parent regulation. Check out this list and please reach out to me if you see some I have forgotten that are tried and true in your home.
